Day 1

Welcome to Boston– Kickoff & Networking

Day 2 

  •  Discovering the World of Biotech, Harvard or MIT Teacher

  • Harvard University Campus Visit led by a Harvard Student, who will share his Havard students life and his unique path to Harvard

Themes:

What is biotechnology? History and impact

DNA, genes, proteins, and how biotech is transforming health

Key breakthroughs: mRNA vaccines, synthetic biology, lab-grown organs

Activities:

Icebreaker: “If you could cure one thing with biotech, what would it be?”

DNA extraction from strawberries (hands-on mini lab)

Group discussion: “How did biotech fight COVID-19?”

Outcome: Students gain foundational knowledge of molecular biology and biotechnology's real-world relevance.

Day 3

  • Gene Editing, Vaccines & Future Therapies, Harvard or MIT Teacher

  • MIT Campus Visit led by a MIT student who will share his MIT studying life and his special path to MIT.

Themes:

Introduction to CRISPR & gene editing

How vaccines work (from traditional to mRNA platforms)

Emerging therapies: cell therapy, precision medicine, nanotech in health

Activities:

CRISPR demo or simulation activity (e.g., gene puzzle game)

Vaccine design challenge: “Create your own vaccine poster”

Guest speaker (PhD student or researcher in biotech lab)

Outcome: Students understand how genetic technologies work and are used in medicine.

Day 4

  • Medical Innovation & Human-Centered Design, Harvard or MIT Teacher

  • Boston Freedom Trail Tour

Themes:

How new medical devices and apps are developed

Design thinking in health: solve for the patient

Real-world case studies (e.g., wearable heart monitors, AI diagnostics)

Activities:

Mini medical design lab: identify a health problem and prototype a solution

Field trip or virtual lab tour: Visit a biotech startup or innovation center

Group brainstorm: What health problem would your team solve?

Outcome: Students explore how innovation and technology are used to solve real healthcare challenges.

Ethics in biotech: genetic privacy, designer babies, access to medicine

Business of biotech: how startups raise funding and go to market

Biotech’s role in global health (vaccine equity, AI in diagnosis)

Activities:

Debate: “Should CRISPR be used to edit human embryos?”

Startup simulation game: Pitch your biotech idea

Team project work time with mentor check-ins

Outcome: Students practice critical thinking, leadership, and ethical reasoning in a global context.
 

Day 6

  • Innovation Showcase & Graduation, Harvard or MIT teacher

  • Boston City Cruises

  • Boston party with teachers and Certificates

Panel feedback from professors or professionals

Reflections on leadership, science, and collaboration

Activities:

Team pitch day: Present your biotech solution
